As the driver starring Sean Penn) starts his car heading towards Manhattan, these two people who were never meant to meet begin a most. The “Daddio”, film addresses several themes, but the one that’s closest to the director’s heart is “the power of human relationships, especially in a city like New York. The exchanges we have with people who are very different, with colorful personalities, from all walks of life, all over the city. Because I think New Yorkers still have the audacity to talk to each other in person and let themselves be surprised.” She confessed.

ORIGINS OF THE PROJECT : ADDDIO” AS A PLAY “OFF-OFF BROADWAY”

According to the film maker, here is the origin of the project itself “I first thought of DADDIO as a play that could be staged in a small experimental “off-off-Broadway” theater… Maybe in the East Village. The play’s journey then exceeded my wildest hopes, but at the beginning, I mainly sought to restore the spirit of my favorite theatrical works. Stories that offer reassuring spaces, devoid of any judgment, and that allow for real adult conversations about the world. Because that’s what a play is all about, to me – to hold up a mirror and provoke questions. To raise questions without providing all the answers. To give the viewer the opportunity to form their own opinion. And maybe to make the story stick in the viewer’s mind long enough for them to want to talk to their friends about it…” Source American Film festival Deauville
